Pediatric Services

doctor at child's hospital bedside

Medical Center of Lewisville’s Pediatric and Adolescent Unit offers comprehensive, family centered care for children and adolescents with a variety of illnesses. Each room is equipped with sleeper chairs so that a parent may stay with their child throughout their hospitalization. The nursing staff specializes in the care of sick children and their families and provides education and developmental care through age-appropriate methods. A new playroom helps to provide some comforts of home.

Thanks to an exciting partnership with Medical City Children’s Hospital, hospitals and physicians across Denton County and surrounding areas now have a premier facility to treat their youngest patients. With our highly trained transport team available around the clock, specialized pediatric care is just a phone call away. The transport team will work with area physicians to determine the appropriate destination for each patient. While the most serious cases requiring advanced pediatric specialization will be transported to the pediatric facility of the patient’s choice, many patients can now be admitted to the pediatric unit at Medical Center of Lewisville.

In addition to maintaining the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Southern Denton County, Medical Center of Lewisville has invested time and resources to make high quality pediatric care available 24/7. Nurses have been specially trained to work with this younger patient population, and facility updates have made the environment child- and family-friendly. Telemedicine uses new technology that makes it possible for physicians to see and hear their patients via a robot in the patient’s room, allowing them to evaluate, monitor and guide treatment from another location when necessary. Medical Center of Lewisville once again sets the standard in family-centered medical care with cutting-edge telemedicine; child life specialists to meet the emotional needs of the patients and their families; and pediatricians, including those trained in intensive care, available 24/7.
